Amethyst Launches MedNostr App Challenge with 14M Sats Prize Pool

A new competition aimed at building decentralized health and wellness apps on Nostr is now underway. Dubbed the MedNostr App Challenge, the event offers a total bounty of 14 million satoshis (0.14 BTC) to top contributors.

Led by Vitor Pamplona, founder of the Nostr-based Amethyst app, the challenge is seeking innovative, production-ready apps that leverage Nostr (a decentralized social protocol) and Bitcoin to improve healthcare access and functionality.

Prize Breakdown:

• 🥇 1st Place: 8 million sats
• 🥈 2nd Place: 4 million sats
• 🥉 3rd Place: 2 million sats

Submissions Due:

May 22, 5:00 AM UTC

Participants must submit:

• A link to their code repository
• A working demo or staging link
• A video walkthrough (in case the app can't be tested directly)

Judging Criteria:

• Production readiness
• Depth and creativity of the solution
• Interoperability
• Value to the Nostr healthcare ecosystem

Purpose of the Challenge:

• Jumpstart decentralized health apps on Nostr
• Unite developers, doctors, and entrepreneurs
• Support global health use cases
• Help teams gear up for future fundraising rounds

The prize pool is currently funded by Pamplona, along with Avi Burra, Jon Gordon, and Illuminodes, with more sponsors welcome.
